About Us
After returning from 13 years overseas and spending several years back at Dick Johnson Racings, Roger Higgins has expanded and set up his own company, InnoV8 Race
Engines
Higgins worked at DJR for seven years, but recently felt that the time was right to make a change.
It really is more of a natural progression rather than a business venture that is starting from scratch, said Higgins.
Our company is still based Stayplton, Queensland in our purpose built facility.
In recent years Higgins has been instrumental in DJRs and HRT's enviable reputation for their engines reliability and competitive power.
Innov8 aim to build and develop engines that are reliable, return good fuel economy and have the right amount of power. After 10 years of working on the Ford V8 Supercar engines the opportunity came about to take over the design and development of the HRT / Walkinshaw engine program.
Higgins, who spent 13 years in Europe working in Formula 1 before returning to DJR in 2004, says there are benefits for race teams by sourcing outside specialist support.
It is certainly more cost effective for teams to share resources. The facilities a team needs to build and maintain its own engines are pretty expensive to set up. You can spread the research and development across more than one team, which helps keep the costs down.
InnoV8 Race Engines allows us to expand our business and get involved in other projects. While continuing to work on V8 Supercars, InnoV8 have taken on other projects in road and racing categories across Australia and overseas.
The long term plan is to build a business that will survive regardless of what happens to any particular race category in the short term.
